One Last Show.
I really like my shot today, I think the vintage ‘feel’ makes Mickey look like he’s preparing for one last show. He’s a bobble-head character we picked up from one of our trips out to Disney World Florida. We have a matching Minnie, but obviously Mickey is the more iconic character. Todays shot is using the last of the natural light that came through our window this afternoon and the shadow is being cast onto one of my new backing-boards that I newly purchased for just this kind of shot. I knew I wanted to use the light today to do something with Mickey’s shadow, as his shadow (or outline) is almost as iconic as the character himself. In this shot the shadow isn’t quite what I wanted to achieve as the light is coming from the wrong angle, but still I really like the shadow that’s fallen on the character. To create the vintage effect, I spent a little time in Photoshop playing with the levels, brightness and contrast, as well as trying numerous colour filters, and also some very slight blur to take the edge off the sharpness. I’ve added a hint of sepia into the shot to give it a little bit of warmth, but no so much as to give it the antique look.
Another short and sweet one today – but I guess they can’t all be fancy shooting techniques and Aston Martin’s!
Thanks for tuning in everyone!
