You might notice something is strange about todays image. That is because I am currently without my camera!
As you may recall, I was visiting my parents this weekend, a 5-hr drive away. It wasn’t until about an hour into the return journey tonight that we realised I’d left the camera at my parents house. To turn around at that point would have meant a 7-hr journey instead, so we had to abandon my camera for now. Hopefully I’ll be able to arrange to meet up with my parents in a week or so when I am little further down south for work, but until then I will be sans camera.
Being without my DSLR, left me two options – fortunately a 5-hr car journey is a good time for thinking! Option 1, would be to continue using either my iPhone camera or my old Panasonic Compact camera. Option 2, would be to tweak the theme of my blog for a little while – which after several hours thought, is the way I’ve decided to go. The thought of taking good/interesting images with my iPhone camera or the Panasonic isn’t worth thinking about – I’ve enjoyed being able to capture the shots I want to capture on the Canon DSLR and playing with the settings to get it right, so going back to the old technology isn’t an option for me really. I wouldn’t enjoy it – and as a result, I’m guessing you guys wouldn’t enjoy it either! It wasn’t why I started the blog, so I don’t want to keep it going without using my DSLR.
So what is in store over the next few days/weeks? Well I think I’m going to keep this as a photography based blog, and keep trying to post daily. I’ll post my thoughts up on photography related topics, such as my trials with Photoshop Elements and Adobe Lightroom and finally blog about my new iMac! (Finally!) I also think this will give me time to learn how to use these applications and test them out on some existing photos! So hopefully I’ll be able to share my experiences, and the results for a little while until I get my camera back!
Thanks for reading, and hope you’ll stick with me during this minor blip!
Jake.
